Relieve your baby if he has a cold
Babies can catch up to 8 colds a year because of their immature immune system. When baby is stuffed up, you can relieve him with a few simple reflexes:
Clean baby’s nose
Give your baby something to drink regularly, particularly if he has fever: it is important that baby does not become dehydrated. If you are breastfeeding offer baby your breast frequently.
To help baby breathe more easily, raise the height of the head of the mattress a little by placing a small cushion under it.
For safety’s sake do not lay your baby to sleep directly on a pillow.
To clean the atmosphere, air your baby’s room every day even if it is cold and make sure that the temperature of the room is never higher than 19°C. Lastly, never smoke in baby’s living space.
Give baby something to drink

Clean baby’s nose with physiological saline solution 2 to 3 times a day, preferably before meals, naps and bedtime.
Lay your baby on his back with his head to one side.
Pour the saline solution into the upper nostril.
The serum flows out the other nostril. Wipe your baby’s nose and repeat the process in the other nostril.
If necessary, remove mucus with a low suction nasal aspirator.
Hydrate your baby’s dry skin

Wash your baby using your hands rather than a wash cloth, without rubbing your baby’s skin too much.

Do not leave the water to evaporate naturally from baby’s skin: after each bath gently pat baby dry without rubbing.
Choose cotton underwear rather than wool or synthetic fabrics which can irritate the skin and do not use too much laundry detergent in the washing machine.
